This stunning building is the Aviva Stadium. It re-opened its doors on 14th May 2010 and has a seated capacity of 51,700. It’s increbible roof is designed to undulate in a wave-like manner so as to avoid blocking natural daylight to local residences. The Lansdowne Road site has existed since 1872 and prior to it’s ‘makeover’ in 2006, it was the oldest sports stadium in Europe and the oldest rugby union ground worldwide. It is home to both The Irish national rugby team and football teams. The is now Ireland’s only UEFA Category 4/Elite Stadium and has won a number of awards including RIAI & RIBA. Since opening in May 2010 over 1.8 million ticketed visitors have passed through the turnstiles for rugby, soccer & concerts.
