4500-year-old tomb in a housing estate

Many ancient monuments have survived for 2 main reasons. The first is because the sheer weight of the stones has stopped people from removing them, and the second is their isolation. The Ballybrack Dolmen is located slap bang in the middle of a council estate in South Dublin. It dates back to 2500 BC and has a beautiful granite capstone that has lots of quartz mixed through it. Its capstone measures about 2m X 2m and weighs about 12 tonnes. It would have originally been covered in a giant cairn of stones of which none survive. It’s a pity that it is often covered in graffiti, and broken glass, and has been used as a fire pit. It really should be cherished for another 4500 years. Nuff said
