O’Connell’s Pub features in the Guinness Christmas advert and  is popularly known as ‘Mrs O’s’ or ‘Yankee’s’. It is located opposite a national monument called Screen Church. This pub has practically unchanged since the early 1800s, with a snug, a turf fireplace and authentic wood-panelled walls. The original whitewashed yard now shelters the smokers acknowledging the no-smoking rule! The only modern contraption allowed was a pool table as television broadcasts do not even enter this establishment. A great atmospheric pint is to be had.
