The oldest pub in the World

Sean’s Bar was originally known as ‘Luain’s Inn’ and has uneven sawdust floors, ceiling supports, cozy snugs, and pitted fireplaces. It is located in Athlone on the banks of the mighty Shannon River beside a 12th-century Norman castle. This was naturally an ancient crossing point location used to cross the river between the east and the west of Ireland. The pub made a case as being the oldest pub in the World after claiming to have records of every owner from the 10th century until the present, including the singer Boy George in the 1980s. The Guinness Book of World Records was called in and used archaeological evidence taken from the wattle and daub in the walls and certified it was the oldest pub in Europe and possibly the World. This was enough evidence to keep the marketing genius owners serving drinks for another 1000 years!
