This is The Irish Army Headquarters built in 1786 as the Royal Military Infirmary by the designs of James Gandon. Gandon was by far the most brilliant architect of his day and his buildings rank with the finest in Europe including The Four Courts, The Custom House, The King’s Inn and even O’Connell Bridge. This beautiful building is often overlooked by visitors to Phoenix Park.
