The Merry Ploughboy Pub is located in south Dublin in an area known as Rockbrook. This traditional music bar claim’s to be the only pub in Ireland that is run by traditional musicians – The Merry Ploughboys. It is located in a scenic location near Rathfarnham on the Dublin Mountains. It was firstly operated as an unlicensed ‘shebeen’ in the early 1800’s but later became a ‘bone fide’ public house, meaning it was licensed to remain open after normal pub hours to serve travelers more than 3 miles from home. A short distance from the pub are a number of excellent walking routes including Marlay Park, Cruagh Wood, Pine Forest and the infamous Hellfire Club.
