A cathedral is a Christian place of worship and the ‘mother’ church of a parish which is distinguished as being the location for the bishop’s seat. Whilst many cathedrals are grand, some can be small. Many of our great cathedrals were heavily restored during the Victorian era but their foundations are essentially Norman.
