The Crown Bar was formerly known as The Liquor Saloon and is one of Ireland’s great historical pubs. Its interior is a myriad of colors made up of mosaics of tiles, ornate mirrors, wood carvings, Corinthian capitals, and etched glass. Its bar is made from Balmoral Red granite with polished brass taps and if you look carefully you can spot painted shells, fairies, pineapples, fleurs-de-lis, and carvings of clowns in the decor. It also has 10 elaborate cozy drinking snugs that are marked A to J and contain bygone items like gunmetal plates for striking matches and a bell system for ordering drinks. This Victorian gem is the only pub in the UK that is owned and operated by Britain’s National Trust.
