Regarded as a masterpiece of church architecture 

Monkstown Parish Church was built in 1789 and re-modeled by the famous architect John Semple in 1825. Its style has been described as ‘castellated Gothic in style with Moorish influences’! At the time, conservative church worshipers described it as ‘incorrect’ but over time it has become to be described as ‘bold, modern and original’. The interior is as equally impressive with its enormous curved vaulting and three beautiful balconies. Semple designed some of the most prominent churches in Dublin and the inside of the Round Room in the Mansion House of the Irish Parliament. His father (also called John) was also an architect who worked on Gandon’s Custom House. This church is now regarded as Semple’s masterpiece.

Anúna is a vocal ensemble formed in South Dublin in 1987 by Irish composer Michael McGlynn. The group has recorded 18 albums and achieved a high level of international success, including a significant role in the original Riverdance from 1994 to 1996. Their incredible global music spans everything from Irish traditional, to classical and to medieval chants.
