The Criminal Courts of Justice are located on Parkgate Street in Dublin City. They were designed by Henry J Lyons Architects and opened in 2010. This is the largest court project undertaken in Ireland for over 200 years and is among the most technologically advanced court facilities in the World. The complex contains 22 courtrooms of varying sizes and it’s location continues the tradition of placing public buildings within sight of the River Liffey. Intelligent design allows the building to segregate judicial, juror, public and custodial circulation systems while also allowing natural light to enter each of the courtrooms. The perforated metal screen also controls glare, maintains privacy, becomes an acoustic barrier, and also acts as an energy-efficient double skin.
