Kildare’s highest pub

Brennan’s Inn sits at an altitude of 700 feet and is a proper ‘olde world’ pub that boasts antique red brick walls, pitch pine woodwork, a back bar, tiled floors, and 2 Victorian open fireplaces that burn turf. The local parish here is called Eadestown which claims to be the only parish in Ireland with 2 race courses and only 1 pub!  Kilteel is now a sleepy village well off the beaten track but this was once an important strategic location controlling the border of the pale. In the village, you can find the ruins of a monastery,  a 15th-century castle, and a substantial Norman motte and bailey.
